The 11th Hour

You know what would make this an even better blog!? I'll get back to this question after you read this...

After having seen the movie the 11th hour and thinking about it. I realized that all the talking the speakers did, did bore me a bit. Although it was important to learn, the message was lacking. I know in my mind it will not reach across to others who were not willing to see it in the first place. "Preaching to the choir" I think the people who watched this film were already sympathetic towards global warming before the movie. So what did I get out of this movie? Few things. The solutions they were showing didn't seem to fit where I was living or it felt like it would reach my home in the next decade. I felt a little helpless as to just wait my turn when it becomes available to buy it or upgrade to it. Like what can I do? What I liked about the movie was its point about industrial design. From now on, designers need to design with_ where it comes from, what is it made of, where will it go after its gone in mind.

I want to stop driving something that costs me $40 dollars to fill every week and to stop being so dependent on things that should be free like transportation, insurance, college, and health care.

Its funny because I use to think, when I was young, we are the generation that has to know more than the last. And I just thought that sucked and made my life harder. My parents might seem like they know or knew a lot but I have to know what they know and more. And somethings change here and there. Pluto is no longer a planet. Facts change or alter. Knowledge is power, Not, Action proves power. And you can quote me on that.

We have to take action.

And it some way this ties into the movie. There was a part in the movie where a woman says when we buy its like saying we approve of this. But its not true. I just can't stop buying gas. Its almost impossible. I can't ride my bike 15+ miles twice a day (checked Google Maps just now) especially not on the freeway. Can't imagine myself doing it during the pouring raining either. Plus I'll need about 2 or 3 hours do get to the next city. Honestly I care sometimes what people think but I shouldn't let that stop me from what I think is good for my community and the bay area.

Anyways to make this blog even better I will mark my purchases. Maybe reading over my purchase should wake me up. I only have 36 dollars currently in my bank account and I've been using cash that I've been saving up to pay someone for my supplies in photo class. But we have not received them yet.

Todays purchases of the day went to...
-16.00 (cash) 2 tickets to see the 11th Hour at the Rheem Theatre in Moraga, CA
